Compared to sencha, kukicha does not have leaves, so it contains less catechins (astringent component) and is rich in theanine (a flavor component unique to tea). Kukicha made from domestically grown tea leaves, “Kukicha” and “Gokujo Kukicha,” wrap the umami with the unique soft aroma of Kukicha. It goes well with rice crackers and pickles.
